We are grateful to the European Commission for supporting the COFUND program INTERdisciplinary MSCA ACTion for HEALTH (INTERACT). We look forward to the collaboration with the University of Copenhagen and to bridge technical, basic, and clinical science

We are grateful to the Novo Nordisk Foundation for supporting the application SHARPSYN - Sharpening synthetic chemical tools by targeting Nature’s most complex glycan through the NERD program. The grant will allow us to supercharge our activities in synthetic method development, oligosaccharide synthesis, and plant cell wall biology. Look out for positions announced over the coming months and years.

Welcome to Natalia Skinder. She joins the group as a postdoctoral fellow, working on our carbohydrate-based vaccine technologies.

 

 


George and Mads were in Zaragoza for the first conference of the GlyCanDrug network.


Cláudia and Mads were in Oxford for the annual general assembly of the Fragment-Screen project.

Mads will be in Miami, visiting project partners in the TNFR project.

 


May 2024

Welcome to George Lasisi. He joins the group for his PhD with in the GlyCanDrug doctoral network. He will work on the identification of inhibitors of glycosyl transferases.

 

Mads will present our vaccine technology for infectious disease at the DTU Microbes Initiative Conference 2024.

Mads will share recent results from the group at the Spring symposium of the Center for Medicinal Chemistry at the University of Copenhagen on May 30. See the full program here.

 

 

April 2024
Mads will be in Berlin for the kickoff of the IMPULSE project. We look forward to the collaboration with EU-OPENSCREEN ERIC and the Brenk group at the University of Bergen on new technologies.

We are grateful to the European Commission for the invitation to initiate grant agreement negotiations for the TargetRNA project. We look forward to collaborating with the University of Bergen, Goethe University Frankfurt and the other partners.

 

 

 

March 2024

Kasper successfully defended his PhD on March 22. Thanks to the committee: Prof. Teresa Carlomagno, Prof. Anders Bach, and Assoc. Prof. Sebastian Meier for an inspiring discussion of the thesis.

Welcome to Rebekka Riis. She joins the group for her PhD in collaboration with Prof. Jan Ardenkjær-Larsen at DTU Healthtech. Rebekka will be working on synthesis of radical enhancers for Hyperpolarized Magnetic Resonance.

 

We are grateful to the DTU PoC fund for their continued belief in our epilepsy project. We look forward to continue the pursuit of better treatment options.

Welcome back to Ahmad Haidar. He joins the group for his PhD studies in collaboration with Prof. Jan Ardenkjær-Larsen at DTU Healthtech. Ahmad will be working on synthesis of enhancers for Hyperpolarized Magnetic Resonance.

 


The 2nd meeting in the Danish Society for Carbohydrate Chemistry took place in Aarhus on January 18. Thanks to all the participants for a great meeting – and a special thanks to Carmen Galan, who shared recent results from her lab in Bristol.

December 2023
Peng will defend his PhD thesis on December 18. Thanks to the committee: Prof. Cristina Nativi, Head of Global Research and Development Dennis Christensen, and Prof. Jens Duus.

We are grateful to SPARK Denmark for supporting our vaccine development research and for including us in the SPARK cohort 3. We look forward to participating in the program over the next two years!

Welcome to Dileep Paladugu. He joins the group for his PhD in oligosaccharide synthesis in the GlycoNoVi doctoral network in collaboration with Glycom/DSM.

 

August 2023
We are recruiting a PhD student in chemical biology of glycosyl transferases. The project will focus on the identification of small molecule inhibitors of sialyl and fucosyltransferases and include training in chemical synthesis of reagents, assay development, miniaturization and automation for high-throughput screening (HTS). The application deadline is September 1. More info about the project and application here.

A two-and-a-half-year postdoc position is available in our group. The project will involve design and synthesis of PROTACs for mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPKs). Deadline is September 7. More info here.

 

Mads will be at the ACS meeting in San Francisco. He will present recent research from the group on Sunday, August 13 in the CARB/POLY symposium Advances in Glycomaterials for Biomimicry and Biomedicine.

We are grateful to the Independent Research Fund Denmark for supporting our project on developing selective degraders of the mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPKs). We look forward to pursuing this exciting avenue of research and to collaborate further with the Cuenda group at CSIC Madrid.

The GlycoNoVi project is starting and we look forward to the collaboration with Glycom – DSM and the other partners. You can read about the project here.
