Professor Søren Kegnæs from DTU Chemistry has received the 2024 Reinholdt W. Jorck og Hustrus Foundation Research Prize worth DKK 300,000, along with a DKK 150,000 travel grant. His pioneering work in green chemistry uses innovative catalysts to convert CO₂ into sustainable chemicals and fuels.
We are delighted to announce that Professor Søren Kegnæs from DTU Chemistry has been awarded the Reinholdt W. Jorck og Hustrus Foundation Research Award 2024 of 300,000 DKK, along with a travel grant of 150,000 DKK. This recognition celebrates his groundbreaking work in green chemistry, particularly in developing new catalysts for the sustainable conversion of CO₂ into chemicals and fuels.
As a leading researcher in materials and sustainable chemistry, Søren’s work integrates nanotechnology and catalysis to create innovative solutions that lower energy consumption and reduce CO₂ emissions. His research has yielded multiple patents and commercial ventures in collaboration with industry partners, thereby promoting a more environmentally friendly chemical industry.
The Research Award acknowledges Søren’s outstanding contributions to research and education, serving as an encouragement to further pursue and enhance his inspiring work. The awarded funds will support ongoing and future research projects, further education, and other initiatives aimed at his continued professional growth.
The Travel Grant enables Søren to participate in international conferences and research stays abroad, opening doors to valuable networking opportunities and allowing him to draw inspiration from leading global research communities.
The award was presented by the Foundation’s Chairman, Supreme Court President Jens Peter Christensen, on December 11 at the Supreme Court of Denmark.
